What is Android



Android is the operating system used in smartphones and tablet PCs. Functions the same as in the Nokia Symbian operating system, Apple iOS and BlackBerry OS.

Android is not tied to one brand of Mobile course, some well-known vendors that already use Android include Samsung, Sony Ericsson, HTC, Nexus, Motorola, and others.

Android was first developed by a company called Android Inc., And in 2005 acquired by Internet giant Google. Android is made on the basis of a modified Linux kernel, and for each of its release given a code name based on the name of the food dish.
The main advantage of Android is a free and open source, which makes the Android smartphones sold cheaper than the Blackberry or iPhone, although the features (hardware) which offered a better Android.

Some of the main features of Android include WiFi hotspot, multi-touch, multitasking, GPS, accelerometers, java support, supports many networks (GSM / EDGE, IDEN, CDMA, EV-DO, UMTS, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, LTE & WiMAX ) as well as basic phone capabilities in general.




The Android version is currently available


Eclair (2.0 / 2.1) 

Early version of Android which came into use by many smartphones, the main features of Eclair is a total change of the structure and appearance of the user interface and is the first version of Android that supports HTML5.






Froyo / Frozen Yogurt (2.2) 


Android 2.2 was released with 20 new features, including the increase in speed, the Wi-Fi hotspot tethering and Adobe Flash support.







Gingerbread (2.3) 


The main changes in version 2.3 include updated UI, improved features soft keyboard & copy / paste, power management, and support Near Field Communication.







Honeycomb (3.0, 3.1 and 3.2) 

An Android version is intended for gadgets / devices with large screens such as tablet PCs; Honeycomb new feature is support for multicore processors and graphics hardware acceleration (the first tablet that uses Honeycomb is the Motorola Xoom which was released in February 2011). 


Google decided to temporarily close access to the Honeycomb source code, this is done to prevent the vendor phone makers to install Honeycomb on a smartphone. Because many companies to install the previous version of Android to the tablet PC, which causes the user is not satisfied and eventually make Android's image is not good.





Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0) 




Android Ice Cream Sandwich was announced on May 10, 2011 in the event Google I / O Developers Conference (San Francisco) and officially released on October 19, 2011 in Hong Kong. "Android Ice Cream Sandwich" can be used either on a smartphone or tablet. The main features of Android 4.0 ICS Face Unlock is, Android Beam (NFC), major changes in the User Interface, and a standard screen size (native screen) resolution of 720p (high definition).






Android Jelly Bean (4.1, 4.2 and 4.3) 


Android Jelly Bean to an increase in its more focused user interface more smooth and responsive. In this version also marks the presence of Google Now feature which provides advice and recommendations based on the data stored (contacts, calendar, location, etc.) on the phone.








Android KitKat (4.4) 


KitKat Android memory management that focuses on low-end devices which have low memory continue to run smoothly and minimal lagg. Besides, there were several other features such as the ability to use all of the display screen (immersive mode), Mobile Printing support, adding support for new sensors, etc..
